Answer:

What is your life's Bible Verse? (To answer, write first your Bible verse and then your reflection) *

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 NLT

Reflection

For I know the plans that I have for you “, says the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”. We all have had our ups and downs in life.

Don't merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves." James 1:22

-Everyone has met a Christian that can quote the Bible chapter and verse but seems to be completely unable to put any of what they have memorized to work in their daily life. On the other hand, everyone has also met a Christian who has no idea what John 3:16 says but lives by the teachings of Jesus as perfectly as a flawed human being can. It is people like these that show what James 1:22 is talking about. It is not enough to simply listen to or read the Word. Knowing what it says it not enough. You must put what it says into practice, or the words on the page are meaningless.

19. What is your opinion on the effects of forced labor on the Filipino laborers?.

Answer: Forced labor is a form of work or service, in which, people are forced to do against their will, with the threat of punishment. The Philippines has a long history regarding forced labor. It all started back during the Spanish occupation of the Philippines, which was over, 497 years ago. Filipinos were subjected to forced labor, known as ''polo y Servicio''. They were given little to no compensation, a lot of Filipinos during that time became slaves, which suffered abuse and torture. At that time, it was rampant and common, Spaniards belittle the Filipinos and most of them treat our ancestors lower than animals. Forced labor was required for males from the age of 18-60, working 40 days per year, which was then reduced to 15 days by the year 1884. But, there were certain Filipinos who were exempted from the said labor. They were the aristocrats, those who could pay taxes which amounted to 70 pesos during that time. To put it simply, those who were rich and those who belong to the rich family were exempted.

23. what is your opinion on the effects of forced labor on the filipino laborers

NOTE :

IM BEING HONEST THAT THIS ANSWER IS FROM THE ANOTHER USER

Forced labor is a form of work or service, in which, people are forced to do against their will, with the threat of punishment.

Before its effectiveness, ''Polo y Servicio'' was put into writing and had various conditions along with it. These are, the labor should be done and used for necessary public projects, laborers must be fully compensated, physical condition and health of the laborers must be thoroughly checked before they are subjected to labor, laborers should work near their homes, and they should be given a week or a month off so they could harvest and plant crops. Sadly, all of these conditions were not met and they were subjected to abuse and injustice. Most of them were treated inhumanely, tortured, and even sexually assaulted. Compensations were not given and they were forced to work for free. A lot of them died due to being sick, getting overworked, from torture, or straight-up getting murdered. Others were even tasked to do dirty work for the aristocrats and those in power, especially those in the church, particularly the priests. Which squandered the farmlands of the farmers and forced them to work on their own farm, with no pay or just compensation. Some Filipinos were even forced to sell out their fellow countrymen.

To answer the question, ''What is the effects of forced labor on the Filipino laborers?'' Forced labor lead to a chain of hatred and resentment of the Filipinos towards their colonizers, the Spaniards. They also resented those of the upper-class, including their fellow Filipinos who sided with the Spaniards. These lead to an uprising, a string of revolts that led to a wide revolution. It ignited the war towards freedom. Filipinos against Spaniards and Filipinos against fellow Filipinos who betrayed them. The war involved a lot of bloodshed from both sides, it was like a match that ignited a bush which spread like hellfire. It resulted in more Filipinos from all over the country to stand up and fight against their oppressors. The abuse that they dealt gave birth to the heroes that we know as of today.
